Before finding Architect GP we'd had a very stressful time trying to understand from various builders and draftspeople. Not being familiar with the process and charges we were at our wits end with all the conflicting information and huge range of price estimates.

Thankfully Sarah was able to very calmly and clearly take us through the charges and steps. Until we found Sarah, I was literally in tears with worry as it was a large investment for us and we didn't want to get it wrong or get ripped off. It was such a relief to have her knowledge and expertise to guide us.

We're so pleased with her approach and highly recommend her to anyone embarking on this journey whether you're a newbie like us or not.

Floor Plan Review

Sarah was great and helped us with very practical advice when we were left in a genuinely traumatic situation from another architect.

Although we didn't end up utilising the work provided, it should speak volumes that we still feel so positive. This is a testament to the realism, the lack of pushiness and general helpful attitude.... the opposite we experienced from other architects.

I had a workshop with Sarah and she provided some excellent ideas and suggestions around design and space problems that I couldn't work my way through on my own.

Eventually, based on her suggestions, I was able to decide on the best option. Then Sarah helped me to turn those ideas into a plan - with drawings - that I've been able to give to builders to get a quote.

My project isn't complete yet, but it never would have gotten started without being able to tap into Sarah's expert advice to help me sort and filter all my random ideas into a workable solution.

What Sarah offers through Architect GP is a truly needed service. We are planning a substantial home renovation, and felt like we really wanted to get it right this time, having completed a renovation previously and feeling slightly disappointed with the result.

We have hired architects for this project, but wanted guidance to make sure we were making the correct choices. Sarah walked us through the various options the architects had presented, and made clever and practical suggestions.

We were also able to substantially bring down the cost of the project by going with some of Sarah's suggestions, while also not feeling that we had compromised on anything.

If you're planning a renovation, do yourself a favor and invest in this service! It will save you time, money and disappointment down the track!

Floor Plan Review

Sarah and the service provided at GP Architect is second to none.

We have been deep in planning our forever home for well over 12 months and that was after a year long land search. We have some fantastic custom builders in our area but getting our ideas from out of our heads and onto paper has been challenging.

This is where Sarah stepped in with insightful questions and creative ideas that helped us strip back to what was most important to us and start from there.

We ended up taking elements from an original floorplan we started with and combining elements from a more recent one that we liked but didn't love. Then Sarah added in a few architectural tricks to open up the flow and feel of the space that finally had us in love with it. All the while keeping to a more modest footprint that we had initially set out to achieve so that it stayed affordable.

In the end we 'invested' $'s into a service that gave us back 25x in build cost savings rather than it being a cost!

Architect-on-Call (First Session)

When I booked the Architect-on-Call with Brad, I thought I was going to get a few minor things changed, like "put this here, put that there" and I was a bit skeptical when Brad said, "we're just going to go back to the start...". But after that 20 minute review it all suddenly felt so personalised and I was so impressed with the amount of value I got in such a short amount of time.

We had already worked with a designer to come up with an initial concept for renovating and extending our cottage.

We had sat on the initial concept plan for a while thinking "it's not right yet" and this service gave us the opportunity to chat to someone to work out our concerns. And it was affordable.

There is so much trust in the relationship between us and the building designer, as in, trust that the best options will be presented to you.

When our draftswoman saw Brad's suggestions she was happy that we could talk with someone to get a second opinion and that it was so accessible and a great price! She could see the reasoning behind Brad's suggestion and loved that this new option allowed you to access the northern sun in our living areas and also should hopefully result in some cost savings.

It really can't hurt to get a second opinion, and for us this is what has made us comfortable moving on to the next step of committing to our planned renovation.

Rapid Review

We are planning a minor renovation and it was really great to receive confirmation that our ideas were achievable.

Sarah also gave us a number of new ideas for inclusion in the floorplan, such as moving the entry, genius!

We contacted Architect GP because we wanted a second opinion on plans for our deck and pool renovation.

Sarah was very approachable and easy to work with. She reviewed our plans and sent me her comments ahead of our call. I particularly appreciated how she included links to any products and examples so I didn't need to go searching.

Sarah suggested a number of tweaks which we will now take to our design team. Two of them in particular we will definitely be adopting and will elevate our renovations.

Having someone objectively review our proposed design was well worth the money and we now feel confident with moving forward. I would recommend Architect GP to anyone about to take the plunge on big renovations but need another set of eyes to look over things. I found Sarah professional, experienced and easy to chat with.
