How do you get inspired about your project again?

“How full is your dance card at the moment?”

It's Sarah here, founder of Architect GP. My favourite builder asks me this question from time to time and it fills me with…anticipation. No matter how full my “dance card” actually is, I want to hear what comes next. I trust her judgement and there will be a good reason for her asking. The question is inspired.

Sometimes she tells me a story about a couple who own nine violins, four double basses, and want to dance their way into retirement. Or it’s a family needing a renovation now because their just-purchased home was inundated by a dodgy upstairs shower. More typically, I hear about homeowners who have already dropped wonderful words like “natural light”, “space”, “flow”, or “doing it properly this time” in the first meeting.

So, we find a way to collaborate.

What would you make time for in an already full schedule? I know I’m asking this at a time of year when busy-ness is so ubiquitous is becomes a standard form of greeting.

>>How are you going?!
>>Oh, you know, busy!

Perhaps the hardest thing to make time for is rest. Do that first. I needed a rest back in in September when I made a boo-boo and comprehensively over-filled my dance card. I didn’t mean to. It just crept up on me. Then…BOOM!

I needed to stop for a while and re-calibrate.

So, once we’ve rested, then what?

We can take small steps towards fulfilling things. Who knew it was so simple!? If your fulfilling thing is change and improvement in your home, or if your design has got stuck on the kitchen bench needing feedback, we’re here with small steps like the 30-minute-zoom or 1-hour Architect-On-Call. You see, what we’re really good at is getting you inspired about your project again and seeing a way through.

Because when you are inspired, you can do anything.

Architect GP will not be taking bookings between 20th December and 4th January 2026 - because we all need a rest. Our national network of architects will be coming back online in the new year according to their own family schedules. Sensible, right? You’ll see their availability in their calendars when you (or your friends) go to make a booking.

Bookings made before December 30th will secure 2025 pricing (even for appointments in the new year). On January 1st the cost of our workshops will go up between $200 and $400 to reflect both the increasing cost of doing business and ensuring that our architects are paid properly for the value they provide. Architect GPs really do go the extra mile for our homeowners.

Thank you for reading this far. You’re a gem. From all of us, Happy Christmas and may your 2026 be full of small steps towards, and enjoyment of, your most fulfilling things.

With gratitude,

Sarah Hobday-North, Founder and Architect
