This service is ideal for people who already own their home, or have the mortgage well under control. You may be thinking that your house feels too big and you want less “stuff” to worry about. You might have started to think about selling up and downsizing or rightsizing. But where? And why?

Or you might be thinking about renovating to accommodate adult children, guests and/or grandchildren? So many options. So little clarity.

Your Architect GP can help you make sense of the ideas you’ve already had, and also explore new options for a home that meets your needs, wants, priorities and budget.

That might involve design ideas that zone off portions of your house so that it feels more manageable. Or ways to create a guest and grandkids wing. Or just finally updating the bathrooms and making them more accessible and safer. We can review your options for sea-change or tree-change moves.

Consulting a local real estate agent can reveal your property’s income potential and give you more options. Together, we’ll unpack the issues in a safe and supportive way, and examine and sift through all the possibilities.

Take a step back. Your Architect can explore what “home” might look like now, as part of your daily life, with an eye on your financial future too. You’ve earned the right to finally think about living life as you want to, so… let’s work out what that means for you!

A pre-service questionnaire to tell us your story so far.

A two hour workshop at your home, or nominated address, where you’ll get:

• The undivided attention of your Architect GP

• A workshop agenda to structure the discussion and enable you to prepare, so you get the most out of it

• A prepared Architect GP who has read your questionnaire, done desktop research, and is ready to work

• You provide printed copies of floor plans and other information - such as building inspection reports, energy efficiency ratings, etc - that you have on hand

• A pros-and-cons discussion around your current home

• Tim Tams, brought by your Architect GP, to keep our brains alert!

• Architectural sketches in real time to explore the most critical parts of your project; such as site analysis, design strategies, room relationships and/or design alternatives. We to show, ask and involve you in the sketching work (not just tell you how it should be!)

• Discussions of your budget (yes, we’ll talk numbers!) and how it is important for your decision making

• The reassurance that comes from knowing that your decisions are based on real data and knowledge, having explored various scenarios and future potential for improvements

• A verbal summary of the key outcomes and next steps

After the workshop, your Architect GP will send you a summary email report, including follow-up on any other consultants that may be useful referrals for you.
